When I was quite small I would watch my grandfather work with his horses - my love for horses started young and has continued to be a powerful and rewarding experience throughout my life. While I write this, a group of amazing people are slogging through the knee high mud and manure mix of a feed lot in Benton City, Washington. They are working overtime on the lot and online to save a group of horses from being shipped to slaughter in Canada. The "meat" truck is coming THIS VERY AFTERNOON. Horses as meat. Consider this. Consider that $10.00, $25.00, even $5.00 can quickly become part of a miracle process resulting in SAVING a horse, freeing it from misery and terror, opening the door to placement in fostercare or adoption. Last night I pledged $25.00 for Andre (pictured here), a young draft-TB cross gelding. It was going to take $625.00 to save his life. This morning he was posted as having his "bail paid" and has been adopted. Did you dream of hoof beats as a child? Does your heart rise joyously when you take in the sweet beauty of a horse? A simple donation via pay pal will make a difference. Visit Columbia Basin Equine Rescue. Hurry. The meat truck is on the way.
